Many homes we encounter have no floor coverings so the children and elderly sleep on the dirt floor. This can often result in parasite infestations, which cause infections that can become life-threatening. We have partnered with 5 churches in 3 districts to help alleviate this problem. The women’s ministries in these churches have volunteered to make floor mats. They cut and dye palm leaves and weave them into snug, secure mats which prevent contact with the dirt floors.
