Team Returns to USA November 18
Here is a short update on our trip to Uganda. We will provide more details soon. The team left the US on November 3rd, arriving in Entebbe late on November 4th. After spending the night in Entebbe, we made the trip to Canaan’s Children’s home.
Canaan Children’s home is a large facility founded by our host, Pastor Isaac Wagaba of the Full Gospel Church in Jinja. The place we stayed is part of a large compound consisting of a school, medical clinic and farm.
Highlights of our trip include:
- Four dental and vision screening clinics were held, hosted by our partner churches in Jinja, Buikwe, Lugazi and Bukonko
- We were able to meet and serve several of the widows we provide support for from the Buikwe area
- We have hired a doctor and a nurse from the Jinja area to help oversee the pilot hospice program.
- We delivered thousands of dollars worth of shoes, clothing, medical and school supplies to be used by families in need.
- We distributed hundreds of glasses and handmade glasses cases.
- Dozens of people received Christ, and many more were ministered to through preaching and prayer by the pastors of the churches, their wives, many of who do weekly trips to bring food and supplies to our widows
- Hundreds of Bibles were handed out to clinic patients.
Even though we unfortunately had to shorten our schedule due to the uncertainty of the Ebola outbreak, we are sure God will provide for those who missed their chance to visit our clinics.
We were able to leave behind thousands of pairs of glasses and cases, with volunteers who are now trained to perform screenings, so those in areas we did not get to will still have opportunities to be screened.
More details to come!
