James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure
and faultless is this: to look after orphans
and widows in their distress”
• 19 elderly widows and 14 orphans ranging in age from
4 months to 98 years old are being served in 3 districts in
Uganda (East Africa)
• They are receiving life-sustaining food, medical care,
water, crisis intervention for safe housing, and spiritual
care
We continue to provide mats for sanitation in most homes to prevent disease, loss of limbs and even death due to parasites in the dirt floors of homes. Handmade by local women’s ministries groups in four local churches, involving more than 100 Christian women, has given them hope and provided a means to show the elderly
and orphans they deserve to be treated with dignity and love.
Each home served by this ministry receives at least 3 home visits each month, and more often if a crisis situation is found in the home.
Pastor’s wives and their women’s ministries in their churches that have partnered with this ministry include:
• Regina from Liberty Worship Center,
• Faith, from Buikwe Faith Christian Church,
• Esther, Divine Mission Church,
• Jennifer, from Jinja District Church, and
• Esther from Dixie Mission Church.
These faithful women of God made 69 home visits with Sarah, RN, Ministry Coordinator in the last three months. Medical care has included treatments for malaria, respiratory infection, pain, inflammatory skin conditions, fever, and headaches.
All of the elderly are given blood pressure checks with each visit, and
the families are prayed with, receive scripture reading, and often enjoy sharing a worship song together with the Pastors’ wives and Sarah.
